Advanced Placement (AP) Exam Trends
The following graphs show the average score for each subject at each high school along with state and global scores. Only exams with 5 or more students are shown. Years with data points missing indicate that few or no students took the exam at that school for those years.
Examining all of the available AP data for the past six years, one observes that the total number of AP exams taken in Douglas County has exploded, particularly since 2013.
Breaking down the AP exam passing rates by school, we can see that the passing rates for three high schools have never been above 40% over the last six years. Chapel Hill High School, the county’s AP magnet school, has passing rates below 40% for the past four years.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Exam Trends
The following graphs show the average score for each subject at Douglas County High School (DCHS) along with global scores. DCHS is the only IB program in Douglas County. State scores are not available at this time. Only exams with 5 or more students are shown. Years with data points missing indicate that few or no students took the exam at that school for those years.
Examining all of the available IB data for the past six years, one observes that the total number of IB exams taken at DCHS has grown year-over-year with the exception of 2013. Although not indicative of cause and effect, this drop in IB exams for 2013 is inversely correlated with the near-100% increase in number of AP exams taken during 2013.
Passing rates for IB exams at DCHS have generally held a few percentage points below the global average. Both DCHS and global passing rates are generally improving.
