We believe that in a democracy “bottom up” accountability from the community to the local government is more effective and fitting than “top down” accountability from higher levels of government. The public school system is usually the largest government institution in a community. For it to serve the community well, local citizens need to hold the school system regularly accountable for both educational outcomes and for the faithful stewardship of public finances.

The pages in this section describe ways you as a citizen can engage the school system effectively – both individually and with our organization. The more we are engaged with the system, the more the system’s leaders and teachers will feel accountable to serve the good of our community.
